Christina's Book

This painting is a testament of how hard I find to paint something digitally and avoid the clean digital look. Its very hard not to overdo things. And it probably needs more work simplifying things and adding better colors. I started this on my ipad on a coffee shop.We just woke up and I thought I wanted to do a pastel-y type of sketch of my girlfriend while she read her book.
It started being fun and all, but soon I started to struggle , finding the right shadows and colors and most importantly , not having a good solid pencil sketch to start with really made it more difficult. I used the smudge tool a lot to avoid that clean smooth look that you normally get in digital painting.

Uli Meyer featured at Cartoon Brew!

My friend an mentor Uli Meyer gets a front page article at Cartoon Brew! He’s an amazing artist and a really generous man! He helped me out when I was a young inexperienced animation student knocking on the door of his prestigious studio in London. He believed in me and gave me the right opportunity at the right time . I feel extremely lucky that I crossed paths with this animation legend . Thanks Uli!!

My Wreck-it Ralph Shots

In November 2012 Wreck it Ralph was released in the US, It became my second major feature film at Disney animation, and the theme of the movie could not be more appropriate for me, a video game nerd!  Here are the shots I worked on.This time I was pleased to get more acting and dialogue shots , but also some more physical action shots. I had lots of fun , specially animating the “Street Fighter ” scene in glorious 16-bit!

Greek dancing...

We went to see a greek dancing competition in which my girlfriend´s sister was participating. I was of course carrying my ipad and I sketched something real quick. It was like a big stage and with judges and all, it seemed like it was a huge thing for this kids to be up there performing this elaborated choreography. GreekDance

A Dangerous Place..!

Here´s a piece of Photoshop painting that I have been doing in the spare times. I included also some of the process stages that I went through.

Anna is a character featured in my comic book "Attack of the Flip" that I did last year.
I had this sketch of her , just to keep the continuity of the clothing , as a one-sheet model sheet...
Then I decided that I liked the pose and scanned it to maybe one day give it some color and stuff..
Played a bit with the perspective here and there, and tried to get a more badass look in general, adding a bow , but I ultimately decided against it.

Months later... I finally started painting!! just for fun I did a very rough color pass in one layer and went on from there...Then zoomed in and slowly worked the individual areas.

The inspiration comes from various sources but probably the videogame Skyrim was the most influential. I just love this sword and fantasy themes and I enjoyed a lot giving my own take on that on this illustration. I hope you guys like it!, and if you do, leave some comments , they are greatly appreciated!
